Quick start — 6 simple steps
Unbox & Connect. Unpack your hardware device, connect it to your computer via USB or pair via Bluetooth if supported. Confirm the screen shows a welcome prompt.
Install official app. Visit the official desktop or web companion app recommended by your device vendor to manage firmware and accounts. Use only official sources.
Create a new wallet. Follow on-device prompts to initialize as a new user. Set a PIN to protect access—choosing a strong numeric PIN is recommended.
Write your recovery. The device will show a recovery phrase (typically 12–24 words). Write these words in order on paper or steel backup; never store them digitally.
Verify recovery. Confirm the phrase on-device when requested. This ensures the backup is accurate and recoverable.
Use securely. Approve transactions on the device’s screen, keep firmware updated, and store backups offline in a secure place.
Tips for safety
Never share your recovery phrase or PIN with anyone. No legitimate support person will ask for it.
Keep firmware updated using official tools to receive security improvements.
Consider a safe deposit box or home safe for backup storage. Multiple geographically-dispersed copies reduce single-point risk.
Test your backup by performing a simulated recovery to a spare device before storing funds.
